How can I connect headphones to my TV/DVD player?
I have an older TV (RCA XL 100). It's only connection is an F coax (non-digital). Right now, the coax is connected to my DVD player (Phillips DVP 3150P). I have standard music headphones, with an 1/8" connector, though if it's easier, I can use a 1/4" set instead.
How can I hook them up to this system? It's an arrangement I hope to use often, so I don't mind spending a little bit of money. I assume there will be adapters involved, and possibly devices of some sort. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
You need to spice into the speaker output on the TV or hook up to the analog line output of the DVD player.
Either approach requires something to match the impedence of the headphones to the output.
I believe you need what is called a headphone amplifier. A number of commercial devices are available, but most are quite expensive. There are also DIY projects described on various internet sites.
Do a search for "headphone+amplifier".
