What is the difference between Gravitational Field Strength and Acceleration due to gravity?
I was just wondering if gravitational field strength and acceleration due to gravity were the same thing. I know gravitational field strength is measured in N/kg, and acceleration in m/s^2, but that's what got me confused. Could someone please clarify this for me?
First, a Newton is (kg*m)/s^2 so N/kg = (kg*m)/kg*s^2 = m/s^2
Simply put, they are the same units.
The value of the gravitational field strength and acceleration due to gravity are the same thing.
